Pearl's Motto:Eat The World:

Well, we got our miracle... surgery is done and now it is all about the recovery. It is gonna be a longer road than you might think would be warranted for a measly pinkish clearish sequin not quite the size of a dime.

Then again, you leave it in a body for as long as this thing appears to have been in Pearl's throat? Well, a few months on a feeding tube may seem like small potatoes, or I guess it would be liquefied potatoes. Whatever. The important thing to remember is that this may in fact, be the cause of her problems, the entire cause, and nothing BUT the cause.

I will tell the tale, but right now I'm gonna sleep. It looks like she will be at the hospital for at least two weeks... so there will be PLENTY of time to give you all the TMI details.

I popped in from a link on Fantastagirls blog so I had NO idea of the problems you had been having... but OMG. A sequin!???

God Bless you for continuing to have her looked at and God Bless the doctor that was smart enough to take another look!

Now... I may have to dig through your archives to find out about these "two penny" things you mentioned.

Happy Recovery!!!!!!!!1

I'll never look at sequins the same way again. I can't believe something that little could leave a person fearing so for their child. I'm glad the surgery went OK and that you may finally have gotten at the cause of all her troubles. Speedy recovery to your little one, and I hope you're able to got some rest!

I almost can't react, I'm so stunned. I so hope that was all that was wrong! Oh, it makes me cry for her, that she's just had that sitting in there, and she was just unable to know how to help herself. I'm so glad she's fixed! When she's 20, she won't remember the trauma, only you will. And you'll always be so glad you have her. Is she taking visitors?

That is exactly the story that I was going to tell you about in your post where you talked about her breathing problem. We had a little boy who swallowed a button. When they did an MRI, it looked like he had a mass around his trachea. We thought for sure it was cancer and it was squeezing his little breathing tube. It turned out that the button had been in there so long that the tissue around it began growing around it and creating more and more scar tissue and so on. They removed it and he began the healing process. Remember I said that this story had a happy ending? He is now a normal 16 year old boy. It will be okay. I promise.

Oh. my. goodness.

I just got caught up today. Crazy.

Pearl, are you trying to do your mother in? Seriously.

I am so glad that she is on the road to recovery. I hope that you are getting some rest and taking relaxing bubble baths with candles and soft music. Lord knows, you deserve it!

Big hug for you guys.

Oh no, not again! I wondered about something like this when you talked about her having problems again but I thought that there was no way it would happen to you TWICE! It's simply not fair!

All the best for a speedy recovery for Pearl and for you (emotionally!) too!

She CAN have visitors... but right now she is unconscious, on a ventilator and has tubes going in and coming out of every orifice times three. It is not pretty. It is, in fact, every mother's worst nightmare and you don't want to see it. We hope to get her extubated (breathing on her own) tomorrow.

I wouldn't recommend visiting till the earliest this weekend, she ought to be up and possibly even walking briefly... that's the plan innywho.

Thank you for all your well wishes and prayers and general good joo-joo. It matters and it counts!

So glad that she is going to be okay! Sent many good thoughts and prayers her way!

Wish I lived closer, I've spent many hours in the PICU with my friends little one, and would do it for Pearl in a heartbeat! (Sometimes Mommy's like to take a shower, get something warm to eat, and be outside the 8x8 space that is her room).

Super-Sized Hugs, Smiles & Prayers!

For some reason I had the idea that she swallowed the dime, the sequin and a pin. Just a sequin...I could say that that's better...but it really isn't.

Bon. I'm so sorry. This just makes me marvel at the fact that my kids are even alive right now. How do they live to maturity. I hope the healing goes well and that you know I'm thinking about you all.
