These Faces!

I ordered some face paints from Snazaroo.com, they are even better than I had hoped. Plus painting these faces is something that brings great joy to the squirrels, yet I can do it whilst sitting on my bummie. I guess I owe ya some belleh pictures to illustrate why the "sitting" part is so important to me. I'll get around to it later... like everything else.

Y'all, I had to listen to a 27 year old gal whine about how much harder it is to be pregnant at the advanced age of "almost 30!" than it was at age 18.

Uh huh. Sux 2 B u chicky. Can you hear the sympathy just dripping off my every word?

Lets give you an idea of how I feel... yesterday I had the stomach flu, and I first realized what was going on about a half hour before I started hurling. Fatigue to the point that I cannot stand up to clear off the kitchen table, but must lean on the tabletop with one elbow as I stack everything into a pile? Body aches? Mid section in constant pain, accompanied by excruciating heartburn? Headache and dizzyness? Nausea? La! Am pregnant, what do ya mean stomach flu?

Luckily it was short lived, pretty much what LaLa had Sunday night. So approximately a 12 hour thing with minimum yakkage. Still, it was an eye opener for me that maybe it is not my imagination that pregnancy at 39 bites the big one. It helped that the Bishop's wife came to visit me this morning. She and I share the same first name and a similar bigger-than-life sort of personality, and we pal around a bit. She had made some homemade chocolates and came to share the bounty... she sat for a few and I pumped her for info. She had her last kid at the age of 39, and she let me know that absolutely, it is every bit as hard as I think it is. Probably there is nothing wrong with me, this is just what it feels like to gestate at this age.

We didn't discuss the L and D much. I already know that both she and her son died and were revived on the delivery table, but we are just gonna chalk that business up to Gestational Diabetes and ignore it from there.

Did these faces today. I think I'm already getting better.

Another LaLa Quote: "Mama? I fink that ev-wee-one doethen't like yuh name, tho we all call you "Mama.""

Dannnggg, woman, you got skills!
Your girlies look awesome. You should start a Lala quote book. She is chock full of interesting observations.

Like every other task in the world, having the right tools is half the job. And the Snazaroo folks have a website with step by step instructions and an archive of photos that would make your eyeballs pop.

But awwww! Thanks!

And as far as LaLa quotes, just you WAIT till E gets this age! Birdie was full of them too. Still is, I guess.

Um, did you say they died and got revived on the delivery table and just left it at that??? Ah a new nightmare for me to focus on.

Being preggo in the late 30s is, as you say, not so much fun. That almost 30 year old lady can bite my cannoli.

Plus, once more I am just awed by your creative abilities - you got some talents Bon!

Sorry... the kid was 11 pounds and if I remember correctly, he got stuck because NO they did NOT do a c-section.

Great job! I am impressed, you are truly showing you artistic side. It's true, the whole L & D thing can be a very scary thing, we truly take our lives in our hands when we decide to have these little babies but thankfully, due to modern medicine stories like the one in this post are rare. I'm sure you'll be fine, you have a good doctor and the good news is that most are not afraid to do a c-section if necessary.

I'm so glad the snazaroo lived up to your expectations. Your girls look amazing. You are very talented! Don't try to pretend you're not! :)

I'm sorry you are feeling crappy. It's almost over. You are doing great, really. Pregnancy is just really, really hard for some of us. I'm sure we have more of a sense of accomplishment when it's all over. So that's something right?

I hope it goes by fast. Those faces are adorable! How totally fun!

I keep waiting to come over here and find out you're feeling well. And I'm so sorry to hear you're not. I can't imagine how hard it is any age older than I was when pregnant. It beats your body up so much, something I really didn't understand before.

The girls look awesome. Go you!

Hi Bonnie! I have a problem loving your blog. I think I just ignored my children for a solid 2 hours reading you. Love it. You're beautiful, and you make cute kids. Good Job.

Hey Bon - does that face painting kit come with instructions on how to make these faces or did you just do it from your imagination? Serious question since my son loves getting his face painted and I have no talent, but if there are instructions.....

Meredith,
I am gonna email ya too, but this is a good question that others may want to know the answer to.

Go to snazaroo.com and look through their "photo" section. About midway through they have a "step-by-step" section where is does in fact break the different faces down into separate steps. PLUS, and here's the kicker... they apparently do classes and have a place on the website to find free classes in your area. Plus a highly detailed FAQ. These people want to make this as accessible as possible for their customers. Pretty impressive site as well as product.

I did also purchase a small round brush and some high density sponges as well as the paints (I wanted to try a few things, so I got the smallest sized cakes) and it while it wasn't cheap, it was worth every penny!

Thanks Bon! I also found on their site that they sell books too with step by step instructions too. Woo! I am going to try this out!
