Update

So no baby yet... and as he is back in the transverse position, and the other doctor is the one who is doing appointments last week and this week, and he doesn't seem to give much of a flying one way or another...

all bets are off. They will not induce if the kid is transverse, so the second or third of December is out. Maybe a c-section? Donno, and the other doctor is one of those that knows better what you need than you do. Which yeah... he's a doctor etc... but when I talked to him about getting a tubal ligation he informed me that what I really needed was a certain kind of IUD.

The crap?

I think that if I wanted an IUD, I would ask for one. I am 39 years old, and so VERY done having kids, I think I am well within my rights to have my tubes tied. There is no reason whatsoever that I take a less permanent option. He wants me to do this IUD because it has some sort of progesterone blah-dee-blah and, here's where the guy pissed me off... "because of my weight putting me at very high risk of endometrial cancer...."

What? Scare tactics for the fat lady? I have been fat for how long, and this is the first I have heard from any doctor just how dire my situation is? Please... do NOT go there with this woman. He started in on progesterone, and I had to stop him to inform him that I well aware of my needs there, and I am already taking care of myself. I don't need an IUD to give me a constant dose. I don't want an IUD to give me a constant dose; I prefer control, and using the creams cyclically.

Frustrating. I really dislike doctors using scare tactics to get their product kickbacks or whatever is this guys incentive for pushing this brand of IUD off on a woman asking for a tubal ligation. It's not like IUDs are any kind of risk-free item, no matter how a proponent of them might like to gloss over it.

Dang. Still grumpy I guess.

Still not dilating.

still...

Hard to get going without a head to help. Sorry, this would make me nuts, the whole unsure thing. And the doctor? Oh no he din't!!! He needs a good slap upside his head. The nerve! Sending happy baby, get your head down vibes your way.

Um... baby, listen to your Mama. Get your head down!! Sheesh!

Doctors. Grrr. Seriously. Grrr. Who the heck do they think they are? Really?

What the heck? You know, I talked to my doctor about tubal litigation whilst he was in there anyway doing the c-section and he said "yes, no problem." He then explained that in maybe 2% of situations he might not be able to do so but mostly we could just plan on it. I mean he is in there anyway, two for one! I am also a fat lady and IUDs were not mentioned nor the endometrial cancer. I know it is too late to see another doctor but seriously, what the heck?

Yeah, that's why I was bringing it up in the first place... gal I know had it done by MY doc... ans since now I am looking at a maybe c-section I was making it clear that I want the procedure if at all possible.

I think this guy meant IF I don't get a c-section/ligation two-fer... then IUD was the best option.

I will still be getting the tubal ligation. Not interested in an IUD.

I had an IUD once, it came out, it hurt, don't think I'll ever have one again. Sorry the other doctor is such a pain. If you do end up having a c-section, I have a great book that will help with recovery. Of course I'll have to just tell you the title and you'll have to buy your own since I'll be using mine. Good luck. I truly feel for you. I'm so sorry things have been so hard this time around.

well ... then I am rooting for the C section! (which I normally would not do) ... because then hopefully you can get all sewn up ... before you get sewn up ...

what? I've been up since 4 am. That's my excuse for making no sense.

I'm thinking my old doctor is the "other doctor" in your office.... I hope that you are able to get the "two-fer"...

Many thoughts and prayers.

The thing about doing the tubal during the C section or right after any birth is that birth puts the body into super healing mode and there is more of a chance that a snip snip here and a burn burn there won't be as effective as when you are a couple months postpartum. At least, that's what my OB told me and he was a swell doctor. He didn't give me crap about being 30 and wanting to end my fertility.

You know, progesterone sucks. It sucks and it sucks. Hormonal birth control methods just plain suck. I love my tubal and even though I'm entering early perimenopause, maybe caused by the tubal, maybe caused by the effects of taking all that birth control which my body always fought, the symptoms of it are so much better than taking all those hormones. I'm much more sane and only slightly less hairy.

Now, shine a flashlight up there and tell that baby to play moth.

I have a non-hormone IUD, and it's a pretty great option.

For me.

For heaven's sakes, I'm not everybody, and I sure as heck don't have four kids!

I wouldn't like hormones, me. You are doing good to exercise your choices -- go Mama!

and, by the way? Being pregnant for like 2 years would be enough to make anybody grumpy and pissy for awhile.

just catching up...Hopefully you were able to get the tubal with the c-section. I had a similar experience but ended up passing on the tubal and going with the IUD for many reasons. At first I regetted my decision but a year+ later I'm very happy with my choice. (i had problems both on and off the pill - the IUD really is different) Not that my decision is the best for you. I just never would have considered the IUD until my midwife (not doctor) pushed it.
