A month ago I wrote a post about the "on purpose accident" trial we were having with LaLa. Y'all chimed in with some comforting advice that reinforced my decision to just put her back in doobahs and wait it out, making it a non-issue. Best thing I ever did. I have known that with LaLa, any head to head confrontation I enter into, is going to escalate all the way to thermonuclear warhead exchange. I appear to require refreshers every now and again. So I'm trying to pick and choose carefully what are the needful battles... like safety issues and sleep.
It's just funny to me that it took less than a month. Going into the back-to-wearing-doobahs scene with my three year old felt like the end of the world. It felt like I had failed, and that my punishment was having to change horrifically smelly stinker-pants. If I had known then that it was going to be such a short stint? Ahem...
Just feeling a little sheepish on this end.
She took a few weeks of back and forth between panties and doobahs, but it really felt like once she was positive that I wasn't going to insist? She gave in to the siren call of the potty and her prettiest My Little Pony panties. Other than an isolated request for a doobah when she had a sick tummy last week, she is a full-time pantie girl again. While I am quietly breathing a sigh of relief, I am also fully prepared to put her back in doobahs.
Non-issue. Again, thanks.

Awesome! I honestly must admit, I never would have thought about just going back to diapers/pullups again. It makes perfect sense. Your readers are so smart! I'm so glad you brought this up in your blog. I am dreading the day that I have to start potty training again. It feels like ages ago even though my second son was very late.
So exciting! And weird because my post today when I put it up is about Miss A using the potty yesterday! Two posts about the potty. Crazy.
Also I can't enter the Dyson contest because I'm Canadian. :( Sucky.
That is the best advice ever. Laylee's finally starting to stay dry through the night because she feels like it. Any prompting from us and she's back to soaking everything. We back away slowly.
Ahhh, the joy, freedom, and fresh air. I wish I were there. We're just letting Zeeb go nekkid, cause if he's got swaddling, he uses it. No matter what it is. And he doesn't seem to notice. But if he's streakin, he usually gets to the pot in time. Never mind that he's a boy with a weapon. At least it's in the right room. We're halfway there. Yeah-eah! We're livin' on a prayer.
I missed the deadline on the Dyson. :(
Glad to hear it all worked itself out.
My youngest is very headstrong as well. Man, he can fight. But luckily for me, God was feeling generous in the potty training stages - he literally trained himself in a day, leaving me a million other battles to pick and choose over, ha ha.
Huh. I never knew they "relapsed," says the mom of the 22-month-old, scribbling notes frantically in the corner. Thanks for the warning!
We are dancing the same dance at our house. One step forward at a time for us.
