300

I have been putting off this post for almost a week now.. Partly because I have nothing to post, other than the standard blah blah blah hot blah summertime stuff blah blah. Partly because, as my 300th post, I thought I should have something a little more coherent to say than I do. Partly because I have chucked back two wildly different and powerful books.

One book: Gift From The Sea, by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. Uhhh... why has no one told me of this book before? This should be mandatory reading for women, especially married women with children. Have you read it? Why didn't YOU tell me? Does everyone just assume that everyone else has read it?

Other Book: Twilight, by Stephenie Mayer. If you have teenage girls you already know all about this book, I am sure. If not... SQUEEEE! The world created by Anne Rice has nothing on Meyer's take on Vampirism, but be warned. Although this is considered Young Adult Fiction, it is powerful and heady stuff, containing the hottest literary kiss this side of erotica. And for all of that, it is conducted in a chaste if dangerous manner. But what do you expect from vampires?

... and oh yeah, blah blah blah hot.

So glad to hear from you again. As Elizasmom mentioned, her first question when we met up in Germany was about you and your family. Fortunately, I had kept up until the last moment before our departure - only to be upset when I did not find The Mama at my next visit to the Internet Café in Germany. Couldn't be more happy about how things are going for you right now.
ElizasmomMom - Have to find another name!

So I guess I should go out and pick those books up then?

Happy 300! I guess I should also keep track of that stuff...

Happy 300th! What an accomplishment!

Have not read the first book. Is it sad? I hate the sad ones. Tell me it is not sad.

Argh. I've been trying to get my hands on Twilight without purchasing, but it's always out from the library. And what is the other one? I need some good, happy books. I just read Peace like a River, which was beautiful, but sad. And now I'm in The Secret History, which is about murder. I need some easy reading for a while.

Oooh. Twilight sounds AWESOME! I will have to see if I can find it on Bookmooch. And Sarah K. If you need fun reading that won't insult your intelligence, check out Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series, starting with The Eyre Affair. Mysteries set in a world where people are obsessed with books and authors instead of movies and celebs. They're a lot of fun.

OK, so I have not even heard of these books! Now I must clearly go and find them because after a long hiatus from reading I find I cannot get enough of the fiction!

Oh my gosh, I'm so glad you love Twilight. I LOVE all of Stephenie Meyer's books.

She lives in the area, I went to her first book signing there literally were like 5 people there and I was the oldest. The last one I went to (I blogged about it, I'll have to go look it up) there were about 300 people there and I was happily not the oldest person in the room, ha ha.

Her new book (the third in the series) comes out in August, I have already preordered it with a gift card my dad sent me for my birthday last month, I can't WAIT to read it!!

(PS New Moon - the second book - is just as good as the first one).

Congrats on the 300th post! I will have to check out the books. Probably my daughter would like the vampire one.

Raising chaos--as a huge proponent of chaos theory I love it!

The best part about Twilight was watching my 16-year-old son go pry the book from my 12-year-old daughter's fingers after she'd fall asleep reading it.

And 300 posts--congrats--that's amazing!

Congrats on 300!
I loved Twilight, too! But I was disappointed with the second book (that could be because I had a huge crush on a vampire, though). If you go to the author's webpage, she has some chapters from Edward's point of view and those are very cool!

dangit, people keep telling me about Gift from the Sea...

I am reading "strange piece of paradise." which I am enjoying. Yes, a book not about triathlon - who'd a thunk it?!

Yay! So glad to hear from you!! I'm not into vampire books. I live near New Orleans and I've been to Anne Rice's house and museams and even to the Halloween Vampire Ball (very cool but the people are freak-o) and I'm just not into it. People in N.O. are waaaaaaay into, TOO into it, know what I mean? I'll have to check out the other one. I'm reading Jodi Picoult, as usual. And my 1st Jane Austen.

Three hundred EH? That is hot! Oh and you know that the next click is Cheapbooks to scout out the price on those two suggested readings.

Too, TOO weird! I'm in the middle of reading Gift from the Sea myself! For the first time! Ever! And wondering the same thing as you!

As for the other, I might have to get my hands on it...
